Laws would make it a felony to seek asylum in the US

These new laws that seek to crack down on undocumented immigrants, would make it a felony to seek political asylum or refugee status here in the US. It would also, strangly, make it a crime for the government to provide asylum to these people, since it would be a criminal offense to help undocumented immigrants. How does that make sense?

Once again, our government wants to criminalize people who are merely crying out for help.

"What? American corporations have bought up all your land, leaving you landless and poor in Mexico, and now you want to come to our country to do the work that we as Americans refuse to do, so that you can earn a little money to feed your families back home? Lock him up boys!"

The only way to seek asylum in the US is to come here first. In most cases, those seeking asylum are unable to obtain the legal documents required to enter the US prior to their arrival. This would make them criminals in this country the moment they set foot on US soil. Airport customs agent would be compelled to arrest them on felony charges of being in this country undocumented. What kind of sense does that make?

I will be interested to see how this all falls out... more later.
